FOR THE 48TH DISTRICT

Priorities

  • We simply need more housing. Long-time residents are not able to remain in their homes while young families, working people, and new residents can’t attain affordable housing. We need to ensure expedited permitting and expansion of missing middle awareness opportunities. We must also make stronger investments in affordable housing, permanent supportive housing and emergency housing.

  • Having attended local public schools in the Lake Washington School District, I know the strength of our community requires investing in our next generation. With my mother dedicating 20 years as a preschool paraeducator, I will always advocate for support for our teachers and staff. This includes building on the support for special education and materials for teachers to work effectively. I will also advocate for expanded workforce development opportunities and apprenticeship programs.

  • Creating a safe community means ensuring a comprehensive community response that aligns with that of our first responders. It also means prioritizing prevention. Having served as a volunteer Fire Corp member, I know this requires key actions. I will prioritize investing in first responder resources and technology, such as body-worn cameras (for more transparency) and opioid detectors, and training & support, including mental health training. I will also advocate for programs that support survivors along with investing in youth intervention strategies to tackle behavioral health & substance use.

  • As the child of an immigrant small-business owner, I’ve seen my dad navigating the complexities of the system just like so many others in the community. My mom is also a union-represented paraeducator, and I will advocate for small businesses and workers alike through increased access to capital, microloan, training and incubation programs for entrepreneurs and support for streamlined processes for permits and licenses for small businesses. We must also work with local corporations leading in technology, biotech, and aerospace to expand small business partnerships and increased workforce development via Career Connect WA. Finally, I will support unions in the fight for worker rights and wages.

  • We live in one of the most beautiful states in the country, and it’s up to us to fight climate change and protect our environment. This will involve a strong focus on a just transition to clean energy while we prioritize environmental justice in our reduction of carbon emissions. I will promote a focus on environmental justice to directly support clean energy transition for disproportionately served residents, particularly in BIPOC and lower-income communities. I will also place an emphasis on environmental protections for our forests, waterways, and open space, especially as we see dramatic shifts in climate and severe weather, such as wildfires.
