ON THE ISSUES

Priorities

As your State Representative, I worked with my colleagues in the Legislature to advance policies that reflect our shared values, and I remain committed to working alongside you.

Housing & Transit Infrastructure

We simply need more housing. Long-time residents are not able to remain in their homes while young families, working people, and new residents can’t attain affordable housing.
Education & Workforce Development

Having attended public schools, I know the strength of our community requires investing in our next generation. With my mother dedicating 20 years as a preschool paraeducator, I will always advocate for support for our teachers and staff.
Healthcare & Behavioral Health

In my healthcare experience, I’ve seen the struggles that folks face in dealing with unexpected physical & behavioral health crises. Healthcare is a human right, and I will fight for access.
Public Safety & Gun Violence Prevention

Creating a safe community means ensuring a comprehensive community response that aligns with that of our first responders. It also means prioritizing prevention. Having served as a volunteer Fire Corp member, I know this requires key actions
Environment & Climate Change

We live in one of the most beautiful states in the country, and it’s up to us to fight climate change and protect our environment. This will involve a strong focus on a just transition to clean energy while we prioritize environmental justice in our reduction of carbon emissions.
Economy & Small Business

As the child of an immigrant small-business owner, I’ve seen my dad navigating the complexities of the system just like so many others in the community. My mom is also a union-represented para-educator, and I will advocate for small businesses and workers alike.

About Osman

Rep. Osman Salahuddin currently represents the 48th Legislative District.

A Redmond native and proud son of immigrants—a special education teacher and small business owner—he earned a B.S. in neurobiology from the University of Washington, where he served as Student Body President.

Before being elected, Osman worked as a researcher at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center and UW Medicine.

He has served his community on the Redmond City Council, worked for the King County Council, and contributed to non-profit boards like the Transportation Choices Coalition.
